At Wave Consulting, our commitment to sustainability and innovation drives us to seek valuable partnerships with universities, focusing on water and renewable energy. These collaborations allow us to share our expertise and work towards the development of smart water and energy products that contribute to building better, water-sensitive, climate-resilient, and smart cities.
Benefits of university partnerships for innovation
enhanced expertise sharing
accelerated product development
access to fresh perspectives
sustainable city solutions
networking opportunities for professionals
University partnerships play a pivotal role in enhancing our organisation in several key ways
Firstly, they provide a platform to further develop and refine our expertise. Through seminars, workshops, and courses, we can share our knowledge with students, academics and industry, enriching their understanding of sustainability engineering design.
Secondly, these partnerships facilitate the development of new products. By collaborating with university experts and students, we gain fresh perspectives and insights that inform the creation of innovative solutions.
Our ultimate mission is to manufacture a suite of products rooted in our consulting work, tailored to address the sustainability challenges faced by our clients.
Current university partnerships
Monash University Smart Manufacturing Hub: Industry Innovation Program
One of our significant partnerships is with the Monash University Smart Manufacturing Hub as part of the Industry Innovation Program. This purpose-built centre focuses on supporting manufacturing and innovation. At Wave, we are actively involved in the development of smart water management products.
Currently, we are finalising the design of a passively filtered greywater system capable of filtering up to several hundred litres of greywater per day for garden reuse. This unique system outperforms conventional 2000-litre tanks in providing water for outdoor use and is compliant with EPA and VBA guidelines.
The collaboration with the Smart Manufacturing Hub grants us access to a dedicated maker space, connections to talented students, and the opportunity to collaborate with university experts, accelerating our product development efforts.

2. University of Melbourne: Melbourne Connect
Our partnership with Melbourne Connect, part of the University of Melbourne, provides us with a vibrant coworking space where we can collaborate with like-minded experts. Working alongside others who share our passion for sustainability and innovation fosters an environment of creativity and progress.
In addition, we actively participate in events such as Innovation Week, where we showcase our latest developments and exchange ideas with the broader community.

3. University of New South Wales: Australian Graduate School of Engineering
We continue our partnership with the University of New South Wales and the Australian Graduate School of Engineering, primarily through the delivery of a comprehensive Net Zero Homes short course.
This eight-week program, conducted both online and face-to-face, focuses on the design principles, modelling, materials, rating schemes, monitoring, and construction of genuinely net-zero homes. By educating town planners, designers, engineers, landscape architects, urban developers, and homeowners, we aim to foster a collective commitment to sustainable home design.
Embracing the power of university partnerships in smart water and renewable energy solutions
University partnerships hold immense value for Wave. They facilitate expertise sharing, promote innovation, and drive the development of cutting-edge products. By collaborating with academic institutions, we advance our mission of contributing to the creation of sustainable, resilient, and smarter cities... ensuring a greener future for generations to come.
